The rain threatened to show up any moment during the Falcon’s season opener. The Falcon’s were hosting Sacramento High who came into the match-up having won their season opener on Monday.

A corner in the 38th minute for the Falcons brought the equalizer. Freshman Ani Lopez headed the ball into the net inside the six yard box with the corner from senior Rachel Godinez.

The Falcons went into the half knowing they could build momentum from the strong first half finish. The Falcons took a few shots from range but could not put them on target in the second half. The tie was broken in the 73rd minute when Ani Lopez capitalized on a defensive miscue and found the back of the net again sealing the win for the Falcons.

Senior goalkeeper Sofia Sanker played her first ever high school soccer game and recorded six saves on the night. The Falcon defense had its hands full the whole night with the speed and physicality from the Sac High forwards. Strong performances on the back line by senior rightback Teresa Lopez and senior centerback Bre Trujillo.
