The Falcons hosted the Vanden Vikings on a crisp January night at Schaefer stadium. Fairfield having some trouble overall this season in finding the back of the net, so the mission was clear.
In the 15′ minute Fairfield’s goal keeper was unable to handle a shot and collided with an opposing Vanden player, leaving the goal exposed. An unmarked Vanden player was able to place the ball into the open goal, making it 1-0 Vanden. Fifteen minutes later Vanden would strike again off of a Fairfields half clearance that never cleared out of danger, and Vanden was able to capitalize off the mistake and make it 2-0 Vanden.
The Falcons turned up the pressure and intensity for the final ten minutes of the first half and created a few chances, but the score would stay 2-0 into halftime.
The second half started with the Falcons on all out attack. Fifteen minutes into the second half, Fairfield would draw one back with a brilliant through ball by James Acuesta, to a wide open David Sierra. Sierra was able to beat Vanden’s outside back and play a perfect cross on the ground to Jaime Ramirez, who slotted the ball past the Vanden goal keeper, 2-1.
The remaining time of the match Fairfield was on the attack, creating multiple
scoring opportunities. The final score would remain 2-1, Vanden, but the Falcons were starting to really find themselves this match.
