The Falcons were back at home to face Vanden High School. The Falcons started out from the first whistle with a purpose and a sense of urgency. Fairfield knew this game was not just a must win, but a statement game to let people know their is a culture shift taking place at Schaefer Stadium. Carlos Vega was able to score first from a beautiful forty yard through ball from Ceasar Gonzalez to open the scoring in the 10th minute. Eight minutes later Edgar Corona slipped a ball through Vanden’s back line to Fairfield’s David Sierra who slotted the ball on the ground into the far side of the goal right before being taken out by Vanden’s Goalie, making it 2-0 Falcons. Vanden would get a goal back after a well struck free kick found its way around the wall and into the net making it 2-1. Edgar Corona was able to play a probing pass behind the Vanden back line to Carlos Vega who made a great cut on his right foot to shake the defender off and slipped the ball past the goalie for Vega’s 2nd goal on the day and Corona’s 2nd Assist. It would be 3-1 going into halftime. The Falcons came out in 2nd half with the same intensity where Manuel Gonzalez was able to pull off a diving header in the 63rd minute sealing the game up for the Falcons making it 4-1, which is how it would end. Fairfield knows they must continue to improve. 2W – 1L in conference play.
