No rain, but it was cold Wednesday night at Schaefer Stadium as the Falcons hosted highly ranked Hiram Johnson from Sacramento. The Falcons looked very sharp from the start of the game. Pushing the pace of the game from the whistle had Johnson on their heels a bit. In the 12th minute Johnson would draw a penalty kick which they converted and took the lead 1-0. Ten minutes later the Falcons would equalize off of a deflection from David Sierra’s shot that landed in the path of senior Cesar Gonzalez, who smashed the ball into the back of the net, making it 1-1. Second half started and the Falcons again came out very crisp from the whistle, creating chance after chance. In the 60th minute, Fairfield would take the lead from a well timed through ball by David Sierra into the path of Edgar Corona who accelerated past the Johnson defenders and slotted the ball past their goalie, 2-1 Falcons. In the 71st minute, the Falcons would earn a free kick from approximately twenty three yards out, taken by David Sierra. Sierra was able to place the ball into the top right corner past Johnson’s goalie making it 3-1, Fairfield. Johnson wasn’t out of the game though and got one back in the 76th minute making it 3-2. The Falcons were able to grind the last minutes of the game out and secure the win.
