The Falcons were in the playoff hunt Tuesday night at Schaefer Stadium as they faced Bethel High School in a must win match to keep their postseason hopes alive. Fairfield started just the way they wanted to managing to strike first with a beautifully timed back pass in the eighteen yard box to an open Manny Gonzalez who place the ball in the back of the net making it 1-0 Fairfield in the 20th minute. The first half would end the Falcons 1, Bethel 0. To start the second half Bethel picked up the pressure and started to play more direct forcing the Falcons to defend quite a bit more the second half. In the 53rd minute Ceasar Gonzalez managed to intercept a pass from a Bethel defender, dribble the ball forward at Bethel’s goalie when the ball bobbled back and forth popping out and into the goal making it 2-0 Falcons. Twelve minutes later Bethel would draw a penalty after a Fairfield defender drags a Bethel player down to the ground. Bethel would convert the penalty making it 2-1 Falcons, which is how the game would end.
