The Falcons were back at home to face a familiar opponent Thursday night. The game started a bit slow as both teams looked to gain control of the ball. Vallejo would strike net first off of two deflections that ended in a shot from an unmarked Vallejo player making it 1-0 in the 23rd minute of the first half. Eight minutes later the Falcons would equalize off of a corner kick taken by junior David Sierra, played to senior Juan Lomeli who was able to control the ball, flick it up, turn 180 degrees and volley the ball into the top left corner. The first half would finish 1-1. The second half kicked off and both teams came out much more composed and controlled. The 52’nd minute Vallejo would again take the lead off of a quick throw in that caught Fairfield’s back line a little out of position with a through ball and good finish by Vallejo’s left midfielder, 2-1. Three minutes later Juan lomeli was able to get away from his defender and get off a great shot that was blocked wide right. Senior Oscar Frias followed the shot up with a beautiful back heel pass to senior Edgar Corona who finished it with a hard low shot that Vallejo’s goalie got a hand on, but was unable to stop, 2-2. The match would come down to the final play of the night. Vallejo took a sixty yard free kick that managed to bounce over the Falcons defenders and landed perfectly to an on running Vallejo striker, slipping the ball past the Falcons goalie making it 3-2, Vallejo.
