The Falcons went on the road for their M.E.L season opener to face Vanden High. From the kickoff the Falcons were a little sluggish and slow to start. Vanden was playing very physical and was able to win most every 50/50 challenge.
Vanden would score first when their right midfielder broke free on a run down the line, and crossed the ball into to his forward who headed the ball into the back of the net, 1-0 Vanden.
Ten minutes later the Falcons would receive a free kick from about 30 yards out. Cesar Gonzalez hit an absolute screamer that freezes Vanden’s goalie and levels the match, 1-1. Halftime would end level, but Vanden was still bringing the intensity on every play.
Halftime started and the Falcons came out a little more sharp to start, but Vanden’s physical play kept the Falcons attack at arms length. In the 60th minute the ball bounced over the Falcons defenders head to an on running Vanden striker who beat the goalie coming out off his line, and passed the ball into the back of the net, 2-1 Vanden. Five minutes later Vanden would score their third goal from a free kick about 35 yards out, 3-1 Vanden.
In the 72nd minute the Falcons would get one back from a corner kick from David Sierra that found Edgar Corona who side vollied the ball low and hard into the bottom right side of the net, 3-2. Unfortunately the Falcons found themselves in too deep of a whole and the final score would stay, 3-2 Vanden.
