Meet Recap

The SCAC League Cross-country season opener was hosted by Benicia High school this Wednesday, September 13th. The varsity boys competed with 5 athletes bringing in a team score of 117 points with a 4th place finish. Senior Xavier Estrada had an amazing race, coming off the starting line with a slow start and getting pushed to the back within the first 400m of the race he had to work his way back into the race. He slowly made his way back up to 8th place as he fought with 2 Benicia athletes up the last hill, he didn’t have enough left in the tank to hold them off but came home with a great performance, a 10th place finish and a time of 18:14. Another great performance came from Freshman newcomer Samuel Gallardo, not sure what to expect and a little nervous for his first 3 mile race Samuel held back in the first half but came back strong in the second, he took 24th with a time of 19:17. Also in this race was returning sophomore Seth Saavendra 32nd (20:27), returning junior Osman Yousif 36th (20:36), and junior Lorenzo Sanders 43rd (22:24)
