The Fairfield Falcons Varsity Girls took on the rest of the SCAC conference at Rush Ranch this afternoon for a 3 mile race. The Varsity team welcomed three fresh faces from the JV team to compete at today’s meet.
First to come in for the Falcons was sophomore Jessica Singh who finished in 3rd place (21:46). Next to finish was sophomore Kelly Cordova (7th, 22:40). Singh and Cordova have been working hard in practice and it is paying off in meets. Next to finish was senior Kassandra Galicia (17th, 25:40). Kassandra has been battling knee pain all season but this was her first race were she looked like her old self. She took off from the start and did not stop passing people until the race was over. Next to finish was freshman Nancy Tracy (39th, 28:35) and sophomore Tanya Gallardo (40th, 28:40). Both of these athletes were racing in their first varsity race and handled the pressure well. The next Falcon to come in was Jasmine Ornelas (35th, 31:00) also in her first varsity race.
This was the first time the Varsity Girls had fielded a full team (5 members). They took 4th place, coming behind American Canyon by 2 points. The Falcons look to improve as they have two weeks off until league championships at Benicia on October 26th.
